Flower is the name of our Silver Fox doe that had a litter of 7 baby bunnies! It is always exciting to see a new litter. We like to see the size of the babies and of course the number that is born. When their fur arrives then it is a surprise to see what colors or varieties are in the litter too! The Silver Fox is one of the larger rabbit breeds that is also a rare breed. We raise Flemish Giants and so watching how the mother cares for these young is also important. Flower is fun to watch because she is a good mother doe with a knack of stepping lightly in her cage. She takes great care when she moves around and now that the young are crawling out of their nest box her skill is evident because she never steps on any of the young! We have raised many rabbit breeds and some of the large breeds have had accidents and occasionally had a newborn smother or get stepped on! Thankfully that seldom happens. Flower is so careful and calm. She keeps her bunnies well fed and clean. One of the young crawled upon the does back and it was funny to watch a little bunny climbing around on such a big rabbit! As the little bunnies try out their new legs they perform surprising antics that make delightful entertainment!
